First aid on the slopes

Ski Patrol at Messilä offers first aid services and are responsible for the safety of the resort area.

Ski Patrol is on call during the opening hours of Messil’ä’s slopes. They can be reached at 044 7601 120

Slope first aid is present also on weekends. The first aid office is located on the first floor of the Market Restaurant building.

Ski Patrol can also be reached via walkie-talkie with the assistance of either the ticket sales staff or the lif personel.

In case of an accident

  1. Contact the staff of the nearest ski lift.
  2. Assist the injured party if you know what you are doing.
  3. Prevent further accidents from occurring.
  4. Direct help to the accident site.

Slope safety regulations

1. Gear
Make sure your equipment is adjusted to your size, weight and ability. We strongly recommend the use of a helmet.

2.Behavior on ski lifts
Respect the lift line and p share the lift with fellow skiers. Get on and off the lift only at designated areas.

3. Ski according to your skill level
Select the slope and adapt your speed according to your skills and the environment. Always familiarize yourself with special areas in advance.

4. Bypassing
Keep your distance when you pass the skiers below and ahead of you. 

5.Stopping on the slopes
Stop only at places where you can be easily seen. If you need to go uphill, always do it along the edge of the slope.

6. Adjust your speed
Adjust your speed according to your skill level. Be aware of the snow and weather conditions on the slopes. 

7. Don’t stop on the slopes
Sledging is allowed only in specifically designated areas.

8. Ski at your own risk
You always ski at your own risk.

9. Do not enter the slopes inebriated
Using the slopes under the influence of drugs and / or alcohol is absolutely prohibited.

10. Help!

In the event of accidents, your duty is to assist. Report any accidents immediately to Messilä ski area staff.

Messilä’s staff has the right and responsibility to remove ski passes from anyone who does not abide the ski slope safety regulations.

Every skier is responsible for their own safety as well as the safety of other skie’rs on Messilä’s slopes.

Messilä Resort follows the rules and regulations defined by the Finnish Ski Resort Association.

Please Note

Skiing in Messilä is allowed with all the gear that is available to rent at SkiMac Ski Rental and Service Shop. The gear available includes: alpine skis, snowboards, telemark- skis, and blades. In addition to these monoski, snowskates, snow moto with a mandatory leash are permitted. These are not available at SkiMac.

Adaptive and accessible skiing

Safety guidelines and allowed skiing equipment:

Mono-ski, Bi-Ski, clider support (on teaching slopes).

The use of all kinds of seated snowbikes is prohibited because of both safety reasins and according the the EU’s ski lift directive.

Carrying a child in a carrier backpack is strictly prohibited on the slopes and lifts because of safety reasons. All children using ski lifts must use suitable required equipment for skiing.

Flying remote-controlled drones over the slopes during the opening hours is strictly forbidden. In exceptional circumstances, professional who do commercial shoots or advertising film shoots, you may apply for special permission in advance by contacting kalle.maattola@messila.fi
